ANNOUNCEMENT: QUBIC BECOMES NEW ZEALAND'S NIKE TZ ACCOUNT

I thought I'd take a little time to personally share some news with the community. We're proud to announce that the other day the friendly folks at the big swoosh called through to inform us about a little bit of news - that Qubic Store has now been officially appointed as the first ever and only Nike TZ account in New Zealand, joining a handful of retailers such as DQM, UNDFTD, Huf, Firmament and the like across the globe in Nike's top tier product program. I think those who have been around for a little longer will understand the significance of this, and what a monumental achievement this is for anybody, let alone us and the New Zealand community.

Of course, this means that we will now get access to some of the Nike TZ products, some of the most highly sought after shoes in the Nike program that were never available here in the past, and make them accessible for you all, exclusively only at Qubic Store Newmarket and quarters boutique. We're all excited about what this will bring to our shores, and of course, we'll continue to fight on your behalf for the product you all want to get here.

Thanks to everybody at Nike Inc., New Zealand, Australia, Tokyo, and all that made this possible for us, to say we're extremely humbled is the understatement of the year.

Most of all, thank you all the support you have shown us over the years, for our events, our parties, our product launches, our special projects, and the like. It's been a hard road to get here, but we couldn't have done it without your combined efforts, and we're incredibly grateful for it.

We're pretty proud to present the first offering from the Nike TZ program. Yes, I know it's a little late on the global arena, but as the program develops over the next few months I think you'll find that we'll start to line up against global release dates.

The Lunar Mariah is another combination of old and new, much like the recent Air Maxim 1 - the upper part of the shoe harks back to Nike's 1980-93 Air Mariah (which in turn took in elements from the Nike Eagle), both hugely popular and high performance runners during their time and the first shoe to feature full-length air along the sole. To rehash it for the new generation and to pay tribute to their first full-length air shoe, they kept true to the initial shoe design, but incorporated elements such as a seamless upper construction to reduce weight, technical lightweight fabrics to increase breathability whilst walking/running, and of course, the Lunar sole from their incredible Lunar Trainer silhouette. The end result - a unbelievably light running shoe with classic styling, but modern performance. I think you really need to pick up the shoe in person to appreciate just how light these are - when the boxes arrived, some of the crew thought some of them were missing shoes because the boxes were so light.

As a TZ release, the Lunar Mariah Ultramarine is only available exclusively at Qubic Store Newmarket. Naturally, numbers are quite limited and we're proud to be bringing this first of many TZ releases into the country.

The second delivery of Nike TZ product to hit our shores - this time it's the Dunk AC, and another colourway of the Mariah PR.

Some of you might remember seeing the Dunk AC in a previous post, or on websites

A very clean and minimal look for the legendary Dunk silhouette, but this time featuring a premium canvas upper and a lower profile midsole, with the traditional herringbone outsole. Awesome shoe in person, and great for those who like to keep it a little more subtle. One of my favourite dunks I've seen in a very long time - my personal pick is the grey colourway, but both black and grey are available in store.

The ultralight Mariah PR comes through in another colour, hot on the heels of the first TZ delivery with the Ultramarine colourway Mariah PR. I'm sure you can see the story behind the development of Mariah PR by reading the post above, so this is the second colourway, for those who asked us when the first one arrived if any other colourways arriving. Still as light and as comfortable as the first ones we received, and of course, Nike+ compatible.

With the weather warming up, I can't help but think these could be a good shoe for the upcoming Spring/Summer season, with a nice pair of black shorts.
